Noonan: No Optimism for Greek Deal From People He’s Spoken To
2015-06-18 13:36:00.880 GMT
By Ian Wishart
(Bloomberg) -- Irish Finance Minister Michael Noonan says
Greece isn’t yet out of time to reach a deal with its creditors.
* “There’s some time left but there’s no optimism among the
group of people I’ve met already today,” Noonan tells
reporters in Luxembourg
* Noonan says EU leaders may take up topic again at summit
next week, as Eurogroup talks “will be a preliminary
discussion to a longer political discussion at the heads of
state and government”
* Asked about options, Noonan says “the option is to prepare
the B-plan”
* “We don’t think there would be a contagion effect if there
was a Greek exit but we’ve had the conversations at a high
level”
* “We’re watching the situation and we’re taking advice from
the European Central Bank in Frankfurt”
* “I understand that the Greek finance minister at today’s
meeting is going to make an intervention. I’m not sure what
the nature of the intervention is”
* “I think a lot of people will be conscious of the fact that
a bad deal could be worse than no deal”
