Qwant raises EUR 38.5m from Axel Springer, Caisse des Dépôts and EIB

Qwant, the European search engine that protects the privacy of its users, raises a total of EUR 38.5m with the renewed support of Axel Springer of EUR 3.5m, the new investment of Caisse des Dépôts as a public interest investor of EUR 15m and a EUR 20m loan granted by The European Investment Bank (EIB).
This equity investment will allow the alternative search engine development in Europe. Qwant has its own indexing technology and guarantees the confidentiality of users' personal data. Its founders also participated in this round of financing and remain majority shareholders.

A coalition of the SPD, the Greens and the Left would find 33 per cent of the interviewees good or very good for Germany (+/- 0), an alliance of SPD, Greens and FDP 31 per cent (no comparative value in November 2016). The fact that the government, the Greens and the Free Democratic Party (FDP) set the government up 28% were good or very good (-4).
Nine out of ten Germans worried about democracy in Turkey
89 per cent of Germans are very concerned about democracy in Turkey. 83 percent consider that the federal government should be more resolutely opposed to the Turkish government (-5 points compared to August 2016). 76 per cent say that they find it good that Merkel signals with their visit talks about Turkey. 50 per cent are of the opinion that Merkel should do everything to save the refugee agreement with Turkey.

Trust in the US falls to the level of Russia
The image of the United States has suffered massively after the change from Barack Obama to Donald Trump: 22 percent of Germans still consider the USA to be a partner for Germany to trust. This is a fall of 37 points compared to the survey just before the election in November 2016 and also the record low in the ARD Germany trend . The US currently enjoys the same low level of confidence in the German population as Russia (21 percent). 70 percent of respondents consider the US to be a partner that can not be trusted.
The first official meetings of Donald Trump as president are meeting the Germans with little approval: only 26 percent of the respondents find it good that Trump is implementing his campaign promises - 69 percent do not like this well. Two-thirds of the citizens (67 per cent) are worried that politics trumps the German economy. 80 per cent believe that the European Union must move closer towards Trump.

Grupo Pacha, the Ibiza, Spain-based operator of dance clubs, has closed a sale agreement with the PE firm Trilantic, Cinco Dias reported citing founder and owner Ricardo Urgell. The deal price is not known, but local media have valued the transaction at about EUR 350m, the Spanish-language paper said.
Ricardo Urgell will retain a stake, and Trilantic Europe, together with investors MCH Private Equity and GPF Capital, will acquire a stake from the Urgell family.
The deal will be closed within two months.

Golden Goose, an Italian sneakers company just acquired by private equity firm Carlyle [NASDAQ: CG], could be listed in the future, Italian-language daily Il Sole 24 Ore reported. The report cited Carlyle managing director who said that a listing was a strong possibility, adding that the Jimmy Choo IPO could serve as a model.
The report noted that Carlyle's acquisition of Golden Goose values the company at EUR 430m.
