Comments on Anticipated At-Risk U.S. Launch of Generic Glatiramer Acetate 40mg/mL and Launch of Generic Glatiramer Acetate 20mg/mL ommented that any launch by Mylan of a generic version of COPAXONE® 40mg/ml (glatiramer acetate) prior to final resolution of the pending patent appeals and other patent litigation should be considered an “at-risk” launch, which could subject Mylan to significant damages among other remedies. Additionally, Mylan also announced approval of a generic glatiramer acetate 20mg/mL.“We have planned for the eventual introduction of a generic competitor to glatiramer acetate,” said Dr. Yitzhak Peterburg, Teva’s Interim President and CEO. “We remain confident in patient and physician loyalty to Teva’s COPAXONE® due to its recognized efficacy, safety and tolerability profile, and we will continue to promote and support the product. As we are closing the third quarter, it is too soon to officially comment on any change to our full year business outlook.

”Two appeals will be argued before a single panel of judges of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. In the first case, Teva is appealing the December 2016 inter partes reviewdecisions of the Patent Trial Appeal Board that found all of the claims of three COPAXONE® patents to be unpatentable. In the second case, Teva is appealing the January 2017 decision of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, which declared certain claims of four COPAXONE® patents invalid. The two appeals have been fully briefed and await the scheduling of oral arguments. In additional litigation, Teva brought suit against five Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) filers, including Mylan, for infringement of a patent covering a manufacturing process for glatiramteva us Equity qrer acetate product.

Due to the anticipated launch of another generic 20mg glatiramer acetate product and the anticipated launch of a first generic 40mg glatiramer acetate product, Teva’s early assessment of the impact of these launches to its earnings for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2017 is that it could be affected by at least $0.25 cents per share. These conditions are subject to change based on the discount; adoption rate; and other factors of the competitive products. Teva will provide additional details on its 3rd Quarter Earnings Conference Call on November 2, 2017.

What Will Cause the Next Financial Crisis? J.P. Morgan Says ‘Liquidity

As the 10th anniversary of the financial crisis approaches, J.P. Morgan Chase & Co’s Marko Kolanovic says the next one will be brought about by a liquidity crunch.

Following the 2008 financial crisis, central banks purchased $15 trillion of assets. Now, that accommodation is starting to reverse as central banks pull back from their actions over the past decade, like keeping interest rates near zero or making purchases in markets.

This process of “central bank normalization” could lead to declines in asset prices and disruptions in market liquidity, according to Mr. Kolanovic, the global head of macro, derivatives and quantitative strategies at J.P. Morgan. He dubbed the hypothetical scenario the “Great Liquidity Crisis.”

Essentially, he sees the reactions and developments to the 2008 crisis being partly responsible for causing the next one. The last crisis changed the way the market can prevent and rebound from significant slumps and withdrawals of money from markets, he wrote.

One of these developments was the massive shift from active investing to passive funds. About $2 trillion has rotated from active strategies to passive and momentum strategies, Mr. Kolanovic wrote.

That’s reduced the ability of so-called “value investors”–those who buy when asset prices are cheap–to swoop in during selloffs.

The shift “eliminated a large pool of assets that would be standing ready to buy cheap public securities and backstop a market disruption,” he wrote.

There’s also been a flood of money into assets like private equity, real estate, and illiquid credit holdings, Mr. Kolanovic wrote. This has damped the daily volatility of investors’ portfolios while magnifying the chance of a “liquidity-driven tail risk” because such assets are harder to trade in and out of. They can be disrupted for far longer during a market crisis, he wrote.

Another hazard is the strong growth systematic strategies have seen. These strategies rely on momentum and asset volatility to gauge how much risk should be taken. In a market shock, such strategies would “sell into weakness,” he wrote. For example, futures-based strategies have grown by about $1 trillion, and the potential impact on volumes from options-based hedging strategies have increased from three days to seven.

Investor risk models are based on bonds balancing out the potential risks from stocks. This could backfire, according to him.

Mr. Kolanovic also ventured into areas such as artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies, pointing to initial crypto-coin offerings and high valuation for smartphone applications as signs of excesses in current markets.

His predictions comes as U.S. stock markets are bucking seasonal volatility trends. One measure of market volatility just recorded its calmest quarter on record.

Investors shouldn’t conflate low volatility for low risk, according to Mr. Kolanovic. Sometimes expensive assets don’t record large swings but could be quite risky, he said.

>>> Greek court backs US request to extradite Russian over bitcoin laundering

A Greek court has backed a US request to extradite a Russian businessman accused of laundering billions of dollars in the digital currency bitcoin.

Alexander Vinnik, who was arrested in July while on holiday in Greece, denied charges that he used BTC-e, a digital currency exchange that he operated, to facilitate criminal activities.

According to a US indictment, these included computer hacking, fraud, identity theft and drug trafficking, which earned BTC-e more than €4bn during its operations.

Mr Vinnik appealed Wednesday’s ruling to Greece’s supreme court, which will hear the case later this month.

Alexandros Lykourezos, his lawyer, said that US authorities had provided insufficient evidence to back the extradition request.

Russia has also asked for Mr Vinnik to be extradited to face charges of fraud, but no date has been set for the hearing. He would be willing to return to Moscow without contesting the extradition case, Mr Lykourezos said.

Mr Vinnik denies all the charges against him, claiming he was a technical consultant to BTC-e, not its operator.

According to the indictment, Mr Vinnik and others developed a customer base for BTC-e that was “heavily reliant on criminals, including by not requiring users to validate their identity, obscuring and anonymising transactions and source of funds and by lacking any anti-money laundering processes.”

The indictment also alleges Mr Vinnik was involved in the hacking of Mt Gox, a Japan-based bitcoin exchange that collapsed in 2014, and the laundering of its missing funds through BTC-e and Tradehill, another bitcoin exchange he operated, based in San Francisco. Mr Vinnik also denies these allegations.

The Greek justice minister has the final say in the case of conflicted court rulings.

French retailer Leclerc approached by Amazon over logistics partnership - Reuters News

By Pascale Denis

PARIS, Oct 4 (Reuters) - Privately-held French supermarket operator Leclerc has been approached by U.S. technology group Amazon AMZN.O over possible logistics partnerships, as speculation intensifies over Amazon's intentions in the supermarket sector.

"Yes, we have been approached by Amazon," Michel-Edouard Leclerc, who heads the company, told Reuters on Wednesday.

"Amazon could - why not? - be our logistics partner," he added.

Leclerc's comments come after French newspaper Le Monde reported this week that Amazon had approached various French supermarket operators - including Casino CASP.PA - about setting up distribution deals or making an acquisition in the country. (Full Story)

Traders had also cited market speculation last month that Amazon could be interested in bidding for French supermarket operator Carrefour CARR.PA. Both Casino and Carrefour said they do not comment on market rumours. (Full Story)

Amazon bought Whole Foods Market this year for $13.7 billion in a deal that marked a dramatic change in strategy for a company that had offered food delivery through its Fresh service for a decade but had not previously made any major dents in the $700 billion grocery market.
