Les internautes qui espéraient pouvoir regarder librement des matchs sur des sites illicites en utilisant leur VPN vont devoir se faire une raison. Le tribunal judiciaire, saisi par la chaîne cryptée et la Ligue de football professionnel (LFP), vient d’ordonner à plusieurs géants des réseaux privés virtuels (VPN, ou virtual private network) de bloquer une ribambelle de sites de streaming piratant les compétitions de foot ou de rugby. Les solutions proposées par NordVPN, Proton, Cyberghost, Surfshark et Express VPN, étaient utilisées pour contourner les mesures de blocage déjà ordonnées à l’encontre des fournisseurs d’accès (comme Orange, Bouygues, Free ou SFR). Par l’attribution d’une nouvelle adresse IP, les abonnés pouvaient esquiver ces barrières en quelques clics. La juridiction parisienne a sifflé la fin du match et rejeté l’un après l’autre, l’ensemble des arguments opposés par ces prestataires. L’Informé diffuse les deux décisions.

Le tribunal judiciaire de Paris a constaté l’existence « d’atteintes graves et répétées aux droits exclusifs » des demandeurs. Il a ainsi ordonné aux différentes sociétés de mettre en œuvre, au plus tard dans un délai de trois jours, « toutes mesures propres à empêcher » l’accès à des dizaines de sites. Pour protéger les droits de Canal+, les mesures concernent quelque 200 sites. Elles devront perdurer jusqu’à la date du dernier match du championnat de la Premier league pour la saison 2024/2025, (25 mai 2025), de la Ligue des champions (31 mai 2025), du Top 14 de rugby (28 juin 2025). S’agissant de la défense des intérêts de la LFP, 25 sites sont cette fois concernés, afin de protéger les retransmissions des championnats de Ligue 1 et de Ligue 2, des matchs de barrages et des play-offs y afférents, et du Trophée des champions, pour la saison 2024/2025.
