MAR's acquisition of HOT creates by far the world’s largest hotelier, with significant cost savings, accelerating expansion, and large cash returns planned. This deal seems to have caught everyone by surprise, & could encourage IHG to reconsider its recent announcement not to consider a sale/merger.
