DJ Biogen Skips Conference Amid Takeover Interest -- Market Talk
14:23 ET - Biogen (BIIB) has canceled out of Citi's (C) biotech conference next month, just weeks after the WSJ reported that BIIB has received takeover approaches from both Allergan (AGN) and Merck (MRK). A spokesman for BIIB confirmed that the company canceled out of the conference, adding that they are still scheduled to appear at a conference the week after. There has been a spate of companies who have canceled out of conferences because they are in takeover talks. Last year, Altria, SABMiller's largest shareholder, canceled out of a conference abruptly. At the time SAB and InBev (BUD) were holding takeover discussions. BIIB shares are up 2% to $314.92
