KPN Wouldn’t Fit Deutsche Telekom’s Strategy: Landesbank

(Bloomberg) -- Deutsche Telekom will be more likely to
diversify its business model through acquisitions in growing
mkts such as eastern Europe, Bayerische Landesbank analyst Amir
Darabi says.
* Landesbank: if DT acquired KPN, it would have to sell KPN’s
20.5% stake in Telefonica Deutschland
* Unlikely that DT would want to acquire a co. with strong
political influences
* Deal would be unlikely to receive regulatory approval

* KPN shrs up as much as 5.2% today after Reuters reported DT
may revive its prior interest in bidding for the co. once it
has finalized sale of EE

* In Feb, Deutsche Telekom acquired T-Mobile Czech Republic
