* Index falls to 49.6 from 51.2 in April; Year ago 46.4
* Lowest reading since Jan. 2014
* New Orders fall to 48.7 vs 51.8 in April
* Lowest reading since Jan. 2014
* Reading above 50 signals expansion, less than 50 a contraction
