managers’ index fell to 53.7 in Jan. from a previously reported
54.1 in Dec.
* The latest number was given in a statement released today by
the Beijing-based National Bureau of Statistics and the
China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing
* A reading above 50 indicates expansion
