Wind and 3 Italia attract interest from five potential bidders for excess assets following merger
Wind and 3 Italia, the Italian mobile phone groups owned respectively by Vimpelcom and the Hutchison conglomerate, have attracted interest from five suitors for any excess assets to be sold off following their planned merger.
An unsourced report in Il Sole 24 Ore named the suitors as Sky, Tiscali, Transatel, Fastweb and Iliad. The report noted that there had already been discussions with the five companies over the matter in the past few weeks.
The report also said that Wind/3 Italia could be forced by EU antitrust authorities to sell off assets in Italy to meet competition requirements.
