Stocks in Asia drifted on Wednesday as the earnings season rolled on and investors awaited the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting. The pound lifted from its lows reached in wake of lawmakers’ vote to renegotiate the Brexit withdrawal agreement with Brussels.
Stocks in Japan slid, while they rose in South Korea and Australia, and fluctuated in narrow ranges elsewhere. U.K. equity futures climbed, while European contracts were little changed. Gains waned in American equity futures, having earlier been buoyed by Apple Inc.’s forecast that showed stability after a tough end to last year. The yuan climbed to the highest since July as U.S.-China trade talks get underway in Washington. Treasury yields were steady.
