Asian stocks fell and Japanese equities dropped deeper into a bear market, with regional shares on course for the worst week since October. U.S. futures slipped after shares fell overnight.
Renewed U.S.-China tensions and concern about a partial American government shutdown added to the laundry list of negative narratives in the wake of the Federal Reserve proving less dovish than investors had hoped this week. The MSCI Asia Pacific Index may see its fourth decline in six sessions Friday. Benchmarks fell in Japan, China, Korea and Australia. Crude is up on the day, but still down about 10 percent this week. Treasuries were steady.
