Spire Healthcare’s [LON:SHP] share price gained 12% on Thursday, 1 November on news that the buyout group Advent International had amassed a 3.5% shareholding in the UK-based private hospitals operator, The Daily Telegraph reported.
The newspaper’s market report cited a report on the Betaville blog, in which sources at Advent downplayed speculation that the firm may be poised to launch a takeover offer for Spire. The sources said the stakebuilding was merely an investment made by Advent’s partners via Sunley House, its investment manager.
