Mediaset owner may ask for Vivendi stake to be frozen
Fininvest, the holding of the Berlusconi family, could ask for a 20% stake held in its subsidiary Mediaset [BIT:MS] by Vivendi [EPA:VIV] to be frozen, Italian language daily Il Messaggero reported. The unsourced report said that Fininvest is likely to argue that Vivendi deliberately engaged in market manipulation to lower Mediaset's market price over the last months with a view to subsequently building up a stake.
Mediaset has a market cap of EUR 4.19bn.
