Joby completes first autonomous transcontinental U.S. flight
- An aircraft equipped with Joby's autonomy technology flew 3,199 miles across the U.S. with zero control inputs from the onboard safety pilot.
- The converted Cessna Caravan handled autonomous taxi, takeoff, route navigation and landing under remote supervision from as far as 2,323 miles away.
- Joby said the flight included operations in busy airspace, real-time rerouting around severe weather and an autonomous landing in North Carolina's Outer Banks.
- The company is positioning the system for freight, medical transport, disaster response and defense logistics using an already-certified airframe.
