Indesit owner receives improved offer from Haier
Finelco, the holding company of the Merloni family that controls the listed Italian white goods group Indesit, has received an improved offer from Haier, the Chinese electrical goods group, Italian language daily Milano Finanza reported. The report cited a source close to the matter who said that the improved offer puts Haier back in the running against Michigan-based Whirlpool, which is presently seen as being in pole position.
As previously reported, Finelco will examine binding offers for a strategic stake in the company on 15 June,
Previous reports have claimed that Turkish white goods maker Arcelik, German industrial group Bosch, and South Korean group LG are also interested in taking a stake in Indesit.
Indesit has a market cap of EUR 1.06bn.
