Edison may see interest from Italian energy groups

Edison, the Italian utility controlled by EdF, the listed French energy group, may have a new partner in the future, according to CorrierEconomia. The report cites Jean-Bernard Levy, EdF’s chief executive, who said that the company is strategic but he could consider an aggregation with other operators in order to strengthen its market position.

The report noted that the Italian utility could attract the interest of Italian groups A2A and Sorgenia, as well as the Italian fund F2i and the Czech utility EPH.

Edison is also considering an IPO, concluded the report.

Last week, La Repubblica published an unsourced report saying that EdF had opened talks with F2i and EPH to sell a stake of up to 49% in Edison.
