Colas subsidiary Sintra buys assets of Montreal-based Meloche

Sintra, of Montreal, Quebec-based, has acquired the assets of La Compagnie Meloche, a family-owned business operating in the west of Montreal.
The acquired asset, which has 200 employees, has a quarry, two asphalt plants, two concrete plants, and a concrete post manufacturing unit. The acquisition is part of Colas' growth strategy in North America.
Meloche was run by Michel Meloche, the fourth generation of the family.
Sintra is a subsidiary of Colas, a French civil engineering group that is itself a subsidiary of France-based Bouygues Group, which calls itself a world leader in the construction and maintenance of transport infrastructure.
In 2016, consolidated revenue at Colas totaled EUR 11bn (USD 8.3bn), of which 48% originated outside of France.

With two main locations, one in Kirkland on the Island of Montreal and one in Côteau-du-Lac in Montérégie, Meloche boasts a quarry, two asphalt plants, two concrete plants, and a concrete post manufacturing unit. The company also performs road works.
This acquisition is fully in line with Colas’ targeted external growth strategy in North America
