Asahi Group Holdings planning to propose in excess of JPY 500bn for SABMiller's Eastern European beer companies
Asahi Group Holdings [TYO:2502] is planning a proposal exceeding JPY 500bn (USD 4.9bn) for UK-based SABMiller’s Eastern Europe beer operations, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported, without citing any source.
The Japanese-language report disclosed that as part of moves aimed at restructuring global operations, prior to the acquisition of SABMiller by Anheuser-Busch InBev on 10 October, the Belgium-based brewer plans to soon open the bidding process for SabMiller’s beer businesses in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. Other companies considering bids include European funds and Asia-based brewers, the report said.
