Altice could divest PT Portugal assets like PT Inovacao - report (translated)
Altice, the French telco, could divest non-strategic assets including PT Inovacao as part of its EUR 7.4bn acquisition of PT Portugal, reported Expresso.
The Lusophone publication cited sources familiar with the situation as saying Altice is looking to sell non-telco assets formerly owned by Portugal Telcom (PT) and transferred to PT Portugal under the PT-Oi merger.
PT Inovacao is the research and development unit of PT Portugal. PT Portugal's cloud computing data centre at Covilha is another asset that could be offloaded by Altice but this would have to be offered via concession, rather than outright sale, as it was financed by the EU.
Sapo, the Portuguese internet portal operating in various Lusophone states, could also be sold by Altice, the report said.
